Listen and Talk selects Lisa Edwards Herr as its next Executive Director
Alford Executive Search, a division of KEES, is pleased to announce that Listen and Talk has appointed Lisa Edwards Herr as its next Executive Director.
The majority of Lisa’s 20+ years as a nonprofit executive have been in Washington, including her first job in early childhood education as a pre-school and k-12 teacher. Lisa has a long and illustrious career in education-related nonprofits, culminating with her appointment as Dean at two Washington colleges. Lisa last served as Executive Director and CEO of the 7 River Alliance, a regional community and economic development organization in LaCrosse, WI. An avid learner, Lisa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Western Washington University, Master’s degree in Education from University of Puget Sound and a Doctoral degree in Education from University of Washington.
Listen and Talk, headquartered in Seattle, WA, holds a vision that no child is limited by hearing loss, and works toward fulfilling that vision with a mission to teach children with hearing loss to communicate and learn through listening and spoken language.
David Reese, Listen and Talk’s Board Chairman, commented that “the board and I are so very pleased that we were able to find and hire someone with the outstanding credentials Lisa possesses” and is confident that “Lisa will be a game changer while preserving the priceless legacy of the leadership that has gone before her.”
The Board of Directors retained Alford Executive Search, a division of KEES, in February as its Executive Search partner. The team launched a national search, seeking candidates from a wide range of fields in the deaf/hard of hearing community, as well as education and educational leadership and general nonprofit executive experience.
